A Defining Moment for America

Where were you when you learned that Charlie Kirk was assassinated? We were watching The Charlie Kirk Show on Real America's Voice. Jack Posobiec, who was filling in for Charlie, announced shockingly that Charlie had been shot. It wasn't just a news story; it was a moment that would cause our world to shift. I'll never forget the look on his face as Jack offered up a prayer for his friend. You could see the shock, the absolute stunned reaction that would ripple across the world. My heart knew this would be a defining moment in American history.
While I felt the loss of an incredible man of God, there were three things that surprised me.
The world’s response. I knew Charlie touched lives in America but from the United Kingdom to South Korea to London, I would see thousands of vigils, memorials and folks gathering to mourn the loss of Charlie.
The laughter response. Those who are seen celebrating Charlie's death. As a world, we had just witnessed two senseless attacks that led to death. Has society become numb to death? Was the hatred of Charlie's words so strong that it warranted a "kill" mentality?
The jealous response. Those who would act as if our grief for Charlie would minimize the deaths of our Minnesota Representative Melissa and her husband, Mark Hortman, or the precious children attacked in the Annunciation School shooting. Mourning Charlie does NOT take away the grief we have for others. I do however, remember seeing posts recently that said, "don't give me your thoughts and prayers."
If you don't want my sincere thoughts and prayers, then what else do I have to offer? My thoughts lead me to pray. You may think this is a mindless act that goes nowhere, but, my friend, it is EVERYTHING. Turning to the Almighty to seek comfort, hope, love, and to ask Him to bring good out of tragedy, is by far the most powerful thing that I can do.
Your comments cause me to withdraw from you because you don't seem to understand that many, like me, are STILL mourning.
Charlie’s death signifies more than the death of a man. It points to a dying nation, a crumbling of the invisible walls built on freedom, honor, truth, and unity. Remember, we are the United States. We are NOT a democracy but a republic. We are one nation under God.
I pray the bashing stops. I pray that we will come together to determine to save this nation. I pray God will have mercy on us and save us from ourselves.
May I challenge you to listen to Charlie's videos and watch his life? Charlie’s most important message to this broken world was to give your life to Jesus. Charlie stood on a firm foundation of faith, God's Word and His ways. Charlie spoke truth while the world became silent.
The world has forever changed, but, we, as a society get to determine where we go from here.
Lord God, help us, we pray.
