My friends, As I've meditated on these Scriptures from John, I've learned much.
Here are some of my "takeaways" from this study.
Jesus gives the kind of peace that this world so desperately needs.
Philippians 4:7 calls it the peace that passes all understanding.
We are commissioned. “As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” Church, that’s you. That’s me. The time to move is now.
We need the breath of the Holy Spirit upon us. We need to invite the Holy Spirit into our lives so He can lead and guide us. I need to let Him be our constant companion, wisdom and strength.
We must choose to forgive. We can release the sins against us, to our Lord. That’s why Jesus breathed His breath, the Holy Spirit, upon them. He knew the battles that they would be facing. He knew that the rejections, words, and actions that would come against them would require His Holy Spirit to be with His friends. Jesus knew that His disciples would need a touch from the promised Holy Spirit to infuse them for the calling each one faced.
Selah
Each one of us has a commission, a calling, a purpose over our lives. Jesus called the disciples and equipped them. In their hard times, Jesus showed up!
Ask Him to show up for you. Meditate over His words spoken for you. What are the plans that God has for you? What do you need to live out the Great Commission? He's ready to talk to you about it whenever you're ready to ask.
Dear Lord, We need you. We need your Holy Spirit. Breathe on us, we pray. We ask you to help us to forgive those who have hurt us. May others forgive us, too, when our words and actions cause pain. We are all sinners and fall short of your glory. But Lord, you ARE the glory. You ARE our hope. You alone bring justice and righteousness to this world. Now we ask that you lead us in the plans and purposes that you have for our lives. Have your way with us. In Jesus’ name, because He lived a sinless life, and became the perfect sacrifice to cover our sins, we pray. Amen.
If you found this interesting, I would encourage you to read about the Great Commission from the other Gospels. Matthew, Mark, Luke and John were His followers. They have their individual perspective of the events of Jesus' life. Each would have their own twist as they witness the greatest life of all! May God speak to your heart as you continue to seek His face!
