Midterms are Coming . . . Be Ready - Part 1

In less than 5 months, Americans will be heading to their voting polls. Are you ready? As of this date, we are still the land of the free and the home of the brave.

But my friends, I fear we are at risk of losing our freedoms.

Do you have plans to cast your vote? This mid-term election is of utmost importance. We will be voting for Governor, Lt Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, State Auditor, Mn House and Senate positions.

Is this important? YES! In Minnesota in the last several years, we have voted in several laws that have changed our state.

For instance, we now allow full term abortion. Too horrific to believe? It's true. All restrictions have been removed regarding abortion. And our state has removed the recording of abortions. You don't need to believe me but please do some research. Talk to your representatives. Ask the questions of your local leaders.

In Minnesota we passed a 1400 page omnibus bill that covers so much-most of us haven’t a clue as to what this bill encompasses.

First, omnibus bills are unconstitutional. Our constitution states that the title of a bill should state the reason for the bill.

Omnibus bills are passed when our governmental leaders want to rush the process and perhaps “sneak” in harmful laws. This is unacceptable.

Not only is this risky but it blurs the standards of accountability. How can we know which part of an omnibus bill our representatives support?

When you clump a bunch of bills together-you are deceiving your people and “we the people” deserve better.

Then look at the fraud that has been uncovered in Minnesota. Whether it is 1 million dollars or 19 billion, we should be appalled by that. Our taxes keep increasing and yet our local government is not held accountable. Our system should work to prevent fraud NOT allow it.

Where did that 18 billion dollar surplus in 2023 go? How are we doing today? What is our projected budget? This should be important to everyone of us as we place our dollars in the hands of our government officials.

What about our state flag? This may seem like a minor issue in comparison but who decided we needed a change and why didn’t we the people know about this until the change occurred?

Who decided that we should be a refuge state to provide services for the CHILD that wants a sex change operation? On our tax dollars. Why are we standing in the gap, removing parental authority, supporting decisions that should be held within the family unit?

These are just a few of the changes that we’ve seen in Minnesota these past several years.

Our Minnesota nice reputation has been attacked. Folks are asking us, “Minnesota-what happened?”

Most of us haven’t a clue. I’ll admit it-learning about Minnesota’s stance on full term abortion is the match that lit a flame under me. Since getting involved I have learned so much more.

And honestly, I’ve considered leaving this state that has been  my home for my entire life. But I’m a fighter, I guess. I don’t know if or when I will decide it’s futile to stay. But today I approach those running for office in my state and ask them to give me a reason to stay and fight for our great state.

Friends, this isn’t a Democrat versus Republican issue. These are issues of the heart. These are moral issues of right or wrong. Good versus evil.

God calls us to be a light in the darkness, a city on a hill, the salt of the earth.

To the Christ follower I would ask, where do you stand?

II Chronicles 7:14 says; “ If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and I will heal their land.”

What does God speak to your heart? That’s the One who holds us accountable. We would be good to pay attention to Him and follow His lead.

Stay tuned for ways to become involved. It doesn’t need to be overwhelming. It can be fun!
