Vote! Exercise Your Right.

I believe we have an opportunity to be involved in one of the most historical elections in the history of the United States. Even now, we the people are sitting on the edge of our seats. I picture all of heaven perched and ready, awaiting the outcome. We know it is THAT important. We are divided in how we see the candidates. We are passionate about our "side". We want everyone to be on the same page, as long as it is my page.
If we're Christ followers, we need to put all of that aside and seek His face, pray His will, surrender our will to His and trust Him.
We can be encouraged In I Timothy 2:1-6. "Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time."
These verses remind us to pray, intercede and give thanks. We are also reminded of the bigger picture, the one that includes salvation for all men. It points to Jesus Christ, the One we live for, the Savior of the world.
Sometimes it's hard to remember why we are here, on this planet, in our "space" and time.
But what if you were planted by the Creator to represent Him in this world, in your city, in your family, in your country? What if He placed you here for such a time as this?
Friends, we are alive today! Placed by God to represent Him. Can we put everything aside to live out II Chronicles 7:14?
"If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land."
If ever this land needed healing, it's today. It seems sin is running rampant. Each accusing the other. Lies spewed too often to digest. A world of information at our finger tips, yet we are so blinded and confused. Dazed. Even stunted.
God is our only hope! He set America on a firm foundation. America has a purpose! You have a purpose! We, as the Church, have a purpose! Let us humble ourselves, pray, seek God's face, turn from the wickedness that has invaded our society. God promises that if we do, He WILL hear us from heaven, forgive our sins and heal our land. Isn't that what our hearts really long for?

What could God's people accomplish if they show up at the polls? Let's earnestly seek His face. Allow Him to speak to our hearts. And then go to the polls and vote. Maybe God will be honored by a church returning to its first love, and heal this beautiful land of America.
O God, we pray, bring us back to you. May we honor you and stand upon your precepts. May we reflect your love. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
