A Journey to Holiness

God’s been stirring my heart. Have you felt it too? As a Christian, we are called to be set apart. Holiness. Our goal.
I Peter 1:15-16 Paul reminds us of that call on our lives. “But as He who called you is holy, be holy yourselves in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”
These days that’s not an easy calling. To be holy. To be set apart in “ALL our conduct”. In good times and bad. When you want to be heard and understood. When you’re passionate about an issue, a person, a candidate.
I confess that when I’m on fire over any of the above, I can fall quickly into unholiness. Spewing words in anger, fighting to be heard. It isn’t pretty!
But as Christians, we are called to be different. This world that we are living in appears unstable. The issues are many. The tension is great. Nations vying for power, flexing their muscles. Wars and rumor of wars.
But we are set apart for holiness. The Book of I Peter continues to teach us.
As I read Peter, I'm called to do the following, as I strive for holiness.
Put away all malice, guile and insincerity, envy and slander. You have tasted the Lord’s kindness. I Peter 2:1-3
Come to Jesus. He is precious. Talk to Him. Spend time with Him. I Peter 2:4-6
Remember whose you are. From where you came. You are chosen and called. God calls you His own. I Peter 2:9-10
Abstain from fleshly passions. Maintain good conduct. Serve others. Live as servants to God. I Peter 2:11-12, 16
Honor all men. Love your brothers. Honor those in authority.
There is so much more to learn from I Peter. I challenge you to read this short book and let God speak to your heart. He will lead you, if you seek Him. He is always, ever faithful!
Thank you, Lord, that though we mess up, you redeem us and call us forward. Help us to be the Church to those in our small world. Help us to so live out our holy calling, that others will yearn for the peace we carry.
Thank you for your faithfulness. Bless my friends as they seek you today. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
